Friday favorites

Hello and happy Friday! Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving?

I love the day after Thanksgiving because leftover turkey and mashed potatoes are my favorite. I like to spend this day in my pajamas in front of the fire on the couch watching movies with the family and eating.

I think I almost like this day over Thanksgiving!

Anyway, this is also the day I like to do online Christmas shopping and take advantage of all the sales. Do you like to go out in the crowds to get the deals, or do you prefer to shop from your couch?

I love this mercury glass ornament garland.

In need of winter boots? These are on my wish list....

If you have been following me for anytime longer than a month, you will know I like to put everything in trays. I think I need a closet just to house my trays, ha ha. I love this one. It's perfect for year round and would look great in a bunch of different spaces.

I would love to gift or receive anything from this section at Anthropologie.

I discovered cluster lights this year. Maybe they aren't new to you, but I have searched high and low to find a way to add maximum light to my outdoor trees, and these do the trick.

I have wanted this forever and it's on major sale!

I am dying over this One Room Challenge reveal. I really really want to make that bed!

Everyone loves a pretty watch right?  {they also have some great accessories} Save 15% with code SWEETSAVANNAH at Daniel Wellington.

If you need to order your holiday cards, you can enjoy 20% off on all orders over $150, and 15% off all other orders at Minted.

Speaking of the One Room Challenge, our bathroom is coming along slowly but surely. We now have all the drywall hung, the shower framed in, and radiant heat flooring in. I will update you soon on all of this with some pictures.

But for now, enjoy your time with your family, friends, shopping, or relaxing. Have a great weekend!

our new office space

This post has been a long time coming.
I am so excited to share with you today our new office space for Thompson Design + Build!
When we started our new business, we were struggling to find the right space for our office. We really didn't have room in our home, so the only logical space we settled on was my studio which sits a few steps from our back door.

Unfortunately this space had seen better days. Because I used it for my studio, and a lot of that included woodworking, it was filled with sawdust, dirt, a paint splattered floor, and nicked walls.

It had also become the landing place for things we weren't using, things I needed to sell, etc.
You get the point, it was very cluttered and dirty!

We spent a couple months cleaning it out, giving it a fresh coat of paint, and finding the perfect furniture to suit our needs.

I sold and donated a lot of my craft supplies, and we re-worked the wood working tools into another shed.

Like I mentioned, the floor was a mess. I had spilled a quart of paint in there at one point, and it just needed to be redone.

We opted for LVP flooring which is waterproof, hides dirt well, and looks high end for a low price tag.

The built in cabinets got a fresh coat of Annie Sloan Pure White chalk paint, and the walls got pure white paint as well. It really brightened it up and made it look so fresh and clean, and bigger!

I added these handles to the cabinets for a more modern look with contrast.

Because there was so much white, we added contrast on the ceiling with these gorgeous wood planks.

This company is new to me and I really like the "accent wall in a box" they sell. You can order it in different colorways to match your style. We chose the light, medium, and dark grey color combination. The wood is also double sided. One side is smooth and the other is rough. We chose to showcase both sides on our ceiling.

Then to add to the rustic feel while highlighting the white, we chose this chandelier. I really love how it adds to the rustic look while still being modern.

In the corner of the room is my husbands work desk. But what we really wanted to highlight was our pretty table in the center of the room. This is where I work from my laptop, meet with clients, lay out blueprints, fabric and wallpaper samples, etc. I wanted this table to be a showstopper, and that it is!

I ordered it here, and when it arrived I was even more happy with my decision. The top has a high gloss finish and the legs are the perfect rustic grey wash. It's huge and serves its purpose perfectly! The brand is Four Hands and while they don't stock it anymore, they have many other great options in that brand, and they are having a huge early Black Friday sales happening!

The chairs are super comfy. We are really happy with the comfort level and quality for the price.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted our business name to be really bold. I wanted it to be the first thing you see when you walk in. I found this great company that makes letters and numbers that protrude out from the wall a bit. You can choose from a variety of fonts and sizes. We chose the 7" letters to fit our wall. The font we used is called Trajan Pro.
I love how it turned out.

And for the walls we turned to Mpix to create some great canvas'
We chose our dogs to be our art and I really love how they look. You can save 25% off your first order when you sign up for their emails.

Of course I have a little coffee station out there because I can't live without my coffee.
It sits on top of a large filing cabinet that our neighbors gave to us when they moved.

To keep us warm and toasty we installed this heating unit.

It has become such a fun and warm space, I sometimes just hang out in there, even when I am not working!

I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into our office space.

xoxo

diy gift wrapping station

Get your gift wrapping on!

I love to wrap gifts and create unique looking designs with them.

Last year I showed some ideas for gift toppers, ribbon choices, and paper choices which you can see here.

This year I would like to show you where all the wrapping magic happens!

I created a diy gift wrapping station in my hallway, where I can wrap to my hearts content and not have a big mess.

A simple tray holds my gift tags, tape, scissors, etc.
I like keeping it all corralled so if I do need to move to a different area, I am not trying to carry 400 things at once.

I also like to use non traditional gift wrap for the holidays and reserve the traditional stuff for our "Santa gifts"

I purchase ribbons and gift wrap each year to go with my holiday decor. This year a little pink was in order!

It's fun to create a designated area where anyone in the family can run to and wrap a gift. Have gift bags on hand for those last minute hostess gifts, and always plenty of ribbon. I also like to tie vintage ornaments onto gifts for a fun touch.

If you are interested in any of the papers and ribbons I used this year, I am posting the links below!
Happy wrapping!

winter wonderland table setting

I want to share with you today another table setting I created with some new dishes I just got for the season from Lenox!

The Lenox French Carved place settings were my inspiration for this snowy winter wonderland tablescape. A little info. on these beautiful pieces:

LENOX FRENCH CARVED
Lenox’s own Tim Carder, VP Design, created this new whitewashed stoneware collection for Bed, Bath & Beyond.  Inspired by the antique faience pottery, glimpses of a darker glaze underneath are revealed beneath a second white glaze creating a beautiful whitewashed effect.  Typical of French farmhouse style pottery, this chip resistant dinnerware collection is perfect for casual entertaining.  Six complementary carved patterns varying in style and shape define this elegant casual collection which boasts microwave and dishwasher safe technology.  Best of all, it is made by Lenox, a leading tableware brand, so it is backed by the Lenox Lifetime Breakage Replacement Program.

·         Pattern names are French Carved Bead, French Carved Pearl, French Carved Scallop, French Carved Flower, French Carved Square and French Carved Organic
·         The whitewash collection is made of chip resistant stoneware with microwave and dishwasher safe convenience making it perfect for everyday use

Here is how you can create this winter wonderland look.

Start with the base. I used a snowy "runner" which you can find here.

Next I sprinkled on some sparkly snow.

I created a forest of white trees in the center of my table, {I purchased mine here} along with a pot of white flowers and cedar clippings.

A twist of pink ribbon randomly placed adds a bit of whimsy.

Then I layered my dishes, ending with the bowls. I decided to add more sparkly snow, filling up the bowls just for fun. Obviously this is just for looks and you wouldn't do this if you were serving food from them.

I added a sparkly snowflake ornament with a bit of bling, and a vintage white deer to each bowl.

Finally I set out a marble tray to hold all the beautiful mugs.

The Lenox French Carved dishes are very affordable and created a high end look for very little money.

I hope this gives you some ideas to create your own winter wonderland table setting as well!

xoxo

Our Christmas Tree

Welcome to the My Home Style Blog Hop.
If you are coming from Jeweled Interiors, welcome!
If you are new here, I am excited to have you, and I hope you follow along.
At the end of this post you will see the next person on the blog hop, so please read through all the way to the end.

I hope our tree inspires you when you are decorating your own tree this year.
It's very simple, and it's a very easily achievable look.

Decorating our Christmas tree is one of my favorite things to do to kick off the holiday season.
Typically I set up a huge tree with white lights and deck it out in family ornaments.
But this year I went simple. Clean, simple, and fresh was was the goal for our tree this year.

Here is how I achieved that look.

I used a flocked tree this year. This is a smaller tree that I usually use in our bedroom. This year with our new living room furniture, I thought the scale was much better, and doesn't look so cramped.

Real trees can be so expensive now. And I always decorate early in the season, so a faux tree just
makes sense for us.

I like to add these to the tree.  No one will ever know it is fake with them!

To add height to the tree I placed it on a wooden box inside of this barrel.

I like to add double the white lights, so even if your tree comes pre-lit, add twice as many!
Make sure you get lights with green wire so it blends in.

I used a vintage tree topper this year, made with pipe cleaners in the shape of a snowflake.

Next up is the super fun Ariel from PMQ for two!
She starts off tomorrows Christmas tree edition!

tablescape ideas for Christmas

The second room decorated for Christmas is our dining room!

To see our Christmas kitchen, click here.

This year I kept with the light and bright theme, using a lot of white, but adding in some pink!

I turned to Molbaks for my table settings and decor, as well as decor for the sideboard.

I used the same plates from my hot cocoa and dessert party that you saw here.
They are very versatile and I loved them so much, I had to use them again.

I wanted kind of a whimsical, magical look, so I actually used white battery operated Christmas tree house ornaments, in groupings. You can create interest doing this by using cake plates and pedestals to add dimension.

I also added in a bit of blush pink, my new favorite color, and a punch of raspberry pink.

I picked up these adorable bottle brush trees while shopping at Molbaks and not only do they have a vintage feel, but the color is just gorgeous.

I combined a faux garland with fresh cedar clippings to the length of the sideboard, as well as a few cedar sprigs to the table.

The tables centerpiece is a reflection of the vignette on the sideboard. More mini Christmas tree house ornaments, {I simply cut the hanger off} a sweet little deer, and a grouping of mini Christmas trees with white "frost" placed in white containers from Molbaks.

Have you ever thought about using ornaments as place card holders? It's a simple way to add that extra something special, as well as giving your guest a gift to take home with them.

For these, I simply printed out everyones name on gold cardstock, and cut them out. I punched a hole in one end and looped the hook right through.
Stars are my favorite and I love how they sparkle adding that touch of glam.

At night with the lights dimmed, and all the little houses glowing, it is truly a magical cozy look.
