~a 90's kit house gets a modern refresh~

This house jumped out at me when I was perusing Houzz the other day.

It had me at black and white, and I knew I had to share it with you.

The fresh white paint {super white by ben moore} on the outside with the board and batten siding gives this home a modern farmhouse feel.

The kids rooms have a white backdrop with fun punches of color.

I love the leather chairs and that couch looks super comfy.

The rustic console in the entry is just beautiful.

The black leather bin is a handsome way to store shoes by the door.

~pumpkin molasses spice cookies~{gluten & dairy free}

Even though it isn't fall, I made these pumpkin molasses spice cookies because they just looked too good. They are also gluten and dairy free. I found the recipe on my new favorite dessert blog, which you can find here.

They are not only delicious but they will make your house smell like Christmas, and who doesn't want that?!

~Friday favorites~{let's get organized!}

Happy Friday friends!

This has been a great week for us here at My Sweet Savannah.

The sun has been shining and we are getting our yard in shape for summer and the massive spring cleaning has begun.

I love going through cupboards and cabinets and getting rid of things that we don't use daily.

It feels good to clear the clutter and get organized.

So today's Friday favorites is all about that, organization!

~Savannah's feminine soft bedroom details~

Who doesn't love getting a chance to see a bunch of beautiful rooms in some of your favorite bloggers homes? I know I do! It is what I love so much about blogs, getting inspiration from so many others just like me out there. 
Today I was asked to participate in a beautiful bedroom tour put on by Pink Peppermint Designs.
I am honored to be a part of this and want to give you an extra warm welcome if you are new here coming from The Heathered Nest!

I want to share with you our daughters room, her name is the one behind this blog, Savannah.

This is her first year away at college but I have kept her room nice and cozy and homey so she has a comfortable place to come home too. 

Her school is only 5 hours away, so we get lucky as she comes home on the weekends sometimes.

Her fluffy king sized bed must be a treat for her after sleeping in her dorm room on a xl twin. 

I layered it with a soft pink linen duvet I found at TJ Maxx, and fuzzy pillows, as well as some decorative ones.

I get asked a lot about her linen bed skirt. It really is a show stopper. You can find it here.

There is just something about linen....

I recently added a soft rug to break up all the hardwoods, and along with the bench {similar} at the foot of her bed, it really softens up the room.

Savannah picked out all the artwork for her walls.

I think it is important to let them be a part of the design process.

~happy May~{spring favorites}

Happy May 1st! 

As soon as May hits I really start getting excited about the upcoming months.

Warm weather, later evenings, gathering around the lake, family and friends, etc.

I have some spring favorites that I thought I'd share with you today to get you in the mood as well if you are needing a little burst of sunshine.

1-fill a white pitcher with flowers to add freshness to any room.

2-pile on the white dishes. Vintage or new, add them to open shelving, place behind glass cabinets, or stack on the table.

3-Burn a spring scented candle. My favorite this time of year is Gardenia or Rose. Don't think you can only burn candles in the winter!

4-I love baking cookies and leaving them on this great cake stand for people to grab as they wish.

5- Adding color with rug runners is so fun. I love the ones with raspberry reds and pinks. 

6-Cozy up on chilly spring nights around a fire pit.

7-Croquet is one of our families favorite springtime lawn games.

8-At the end of a busy day, there is nothing like crawling into linen sheets for a restful nights 

sleep.
