~farmhouse kitchen~{shop the look}

I love, love, love farmhouse kitchens.
They are hardworking and full of things used on a daily basis.
I stumbled across this one and new I had to do a "shop the look" post because it is just so good!
I love how everyday items are out on display here. Everything is handy but still looks very stylish.
Corralling wood utensils in white pots, bright cookbooks, and wood accents really stand out. And don't you just love the white milk bottles on top of that great cake stand?

Fresh flowers are always a must in a farmhouse kitchen.
The grocery store is my favorite source for inexpensive flowers.
If you change the water every few days they will last a lot longer!
BoosBlock cutting board can be found here.

These stools are everything!
And that lighting is so dreamy.
That is one huge island.

I love that burlap skirt under the farm sink!
That modern chair is quite a surprise but works really well in this space.
One of my favorite things to do to warm up a kitchen is to add a vintage rug like this one.

Their collection of Le Creuset on the stove is pretty fabulous, as is that cowhide rug.
What do you think?
Pretty easy to achieve this look right?

~a perfect Mother's Day table setting~

This year it was not hard for me to find inspiration for our Mother's Day table.
Our kids who are now 15 and 19, have been painting their own ceramics as long as I can remember. In fact, I have a plate with my Cody's 2 month old footprints on it.

The collection has grown over the years and I knew Mother's Day was the perfect occasion to use it.

I will admit that a lot of the pieces say "dad" on them because the kids used to give these to their dad for fathers day. But nonetheless, they are still very special to all of us.

If you have young kids, I highly recommend doing this with them.
There are a lot of paint your own ceramics shops all over, and it is a fun way to get creative and spend an afternoon.

We don't have enough pieces to set an entire table, so I mixed them in with some other fun pieces.
I also had my friend make me some cloth napkins with nicknames of our family members as well as ones for grandma and grandpa. You can visit her etsy shop here.

The end result is fun and nostalgic all at the same time.
Let's take a look!

~Friday favorites on Thursday~

Tomorrow I have a very special post for you, so I am sharing my round up for the week today, instead of tomorrow.

You guys went nuts for this pic of my neighbors house on Instagram.
Thinking I need to convince them to let me do a little tour of it for you, what do you think?

This dresser is advertised as a nursery piece, but oh my, it is fabulous and could go anywhere!

I just scored this platter at a thrift store for $1.99. Do you remember when Target carried this line?

Speaking of Target collabs, did you see this one? Yay!

These are the best baskets for storing extra blankets by your couch.

Have a lego fan in your family? This is a great gift idea!

This is my new favorite magazine, this issue is such a good one.

It's almost Friday! I hope you come back tomorrow to see a special table I created for Mother's Day.
It is really special to me!

~artist spotlight & new art~[lizzy love art}

Let me introduce you to Lizzy Love.

I first discovered Lizzy through Instagram when I saw a painting she had done for my friend Annie.
Annie has the most perfect little dining nook in her kitchen. Everything about it is darling, but that painting drew me in.

I asked her about it, and that was when I was introduced to the cutie above.

I took a look around her website and new instantly that I wanted her to create a custom piece for me.

Let's back up and start from the beginning.
A few years ago my husband and I traveled to Nashville for our 20th wedding anniversary.
We had the best most relaxing time and soaked in every minute of Nashville's beauty.

One day we went to a small town called Leiper's Fork, and sat in the most picturesque setting drinking wine on Adirondack chairs overlooking this gorgeous field.

I took this picture from that spot.

How cool I thought, to have Lizzy paint that!
So I emailed her this picture and a few weeks later I had the most amazing painting and memory of our trip.

I can't even begin to tell you how in love I am with it. The colors, the textures, the depth.
It is just beautiful and something that I will cherish forever.

Doesn't it add so much life to this space?

Go check out her Instagram page and her website for all the pretty things!

~how to hang a wall of baskets~

This is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to add texture and interest to any wall.
There really isn't a right or wrong way to do this.

Gather your baskets.
Look for ones with different shapes and textures. The colors do not have to match.
I found 98% of these baskets at a thrift store and the other two at HomeGoods.
The most expensive basket was $29.00 and the cheapest was 50 cents.
If I wasn't impatient, I wouldn't waited until I had found all of them at thrift stores, but I wanted this project complete.

To hang them I simply hot glued on a piece of twine to the backside of each basket.
Then I used push pins to hang them from the wall in a random order.
You can lay them out on the floor first to get a good idea of what looks good where.

I also saw on Etsy you can buy whole sets of wall baskets!
Click here to see those options.
This was my inspiration for my dining room.

Let me know if you try this!

~Friday favorites~

Happy Friday!
Here are a few things that peeked my interest this past week.

This whole home is absolutely stunning!

Get organized with this stylish planner.

This great door mat is back in stock and it is dirt cheap!

Have you seen the "island chic" look from Pottery Barn?

This would fit in nicely any neutral decor and style, but this would take things up a notch or two.

I loved this article on bright and airy backyard patios.

Who has a tried and true favorite pair of wedges? I like them all!

These plates would be great on a plate wall or as a gift for any dog lover.

This indoor/outdoor chair is what dreams are made of.

The perfect little table to set by a chair where you don't have a ton of room.

Happy weekend friends!

~DIY stacked wood mirror~{thrifty Thursday}

This project stemmed from a really bad mirror I found at the thrift store.
I do realize if you want to replicate this project, you won't have this exact mirror, so I found you an inexpensive similar one here.

Here is the lovely mirror I started out with.
Looks like someones project gone wrong, but it had good bones. So I purchased it for $2.99, brought it home and painted it with Annie Sloan pure white paint.

Then I raided my stash of reclaimed wood and trim pieces and found a suitable option to trim out the inside.
I cut it into 4 pieces and after painting the frame white, glued them on using wood glue.

This method is similar to how I made picture frames out of reclaimed wood.
