Today I am sharing with you a "healthier" recipe.

Summer is coming and we all need to fit into those bathing suits, am I right?

However, if you are like me, you still crave desserts and sugary things, oh, and carbs.

Ok, so I like to eat.

Anyway, I saw this recipe and thought I'd adapt it a little and bring it to a potluck I recently attended.

Well, it was loved by all, so since it's been taste tested and approved, I thought I'd share the recipe with you.

Tuscan urn can be found here. I fill it with herbs and leave on the kitchen counter.
This round marble serving board comes in handy for so many things.

Drizzle cooled loaf with maple syrup and serve!

~10~ affordable things your house needs for summer~

To me, these things are a must have for summer entertaining, lounging, and living.

1~ A bar cart o  wheels

Easily move things from the kitchen to the deck, to the BBQ, etc.

Store melamine plates and silverware for impromptu gatherings.

This one is under $100!

2~ A pretty large pitcher or vase for flowers

Fresh flowers are a must have. I love picking up flowers from farm stands on the side of the road, or even picking from my own yard. They don't have to be fancy to make a big impact.

This pitcher is gorgeous and so is this glass vase. If you really want to repurpose an item, simply use a glass jar like this.

3~ A fresh smelling floral candle

Besides gardenia I also love this scent in the summer. 

4~ Tiered trays for serving snacks

5~ Extra bottled water and drinks

6~Wine caddy for storage

I like using these to hold extra sunscreen and bug spray. I leave it on the deck or right inside the door all Spring and Summer.

7~AN UPDATED & FRESH FIRST AID KIT

Bumps and bruises, bug bites and scrapes, they come with all the time spent outdoors.

Make sure you have an updated first aid kit on hand. This one is soooo cute!

~deviled eggs with maple bacon bits~

My friend Jenny was over the other day and she was telling me about some deviled eggs she had at Nordstrom that were amazing.

She described them as maple bacon deviled eggs and said people rave about them.

Needing a side dish to bring to Mothers Day, I googled them and came up with a recipe from Boxwood Avenue. Fabulous blog to follow by the way.

So I adapted the recipe to what I had on hand and the result was so so good!

So here is my version and I really hope you try them, or pin the recipe for later.

Trust me, they are that good!

~diy lazy susan centerpiece~

Ever since we got our round dining table, I have wanted a lazy susan for the center. 

But I have never been able to find one that was just right.

So, when I stumbled across one in a thrift store, I decided to buy it and paint it out to match my own decor.

It started out really plain and boring, but was only $2.99 and it was the right size.

Here was what I used to make it over.

I had the stencil but you can find similar ones here.

After you paint your base coat, let it dry, then stencil on in a contrasting color.

Once that is dry it will look very "new" and it will need to be distressed.

I used an electric sander but you can also do it by hand.

There's no rhyme or reason to this, just sand away.

 Seal it with a wax or varathane and it's done!

As you can see, I used it to hold extra silverware in a vintage jar, and it also houses extra plates, napkins, and a my favorite candle.

It's so fun to spin it around when someone needs something within reach.

Don't you just love simple stylish solutions?

~one dresser, two ways~

Do you remember when I picked up this dresser at a thrift store for Cody's room?

I painted it with Annie Sloan Napoleonic Blue and added black wax to the top for a navy finish.

I then added hardware to finish it off.

I love how it turned out for his room.

But then one day I played furniture switch a roo, and moved it into Savannah's room, and gave her wood dresser to Cody.

The wood dresser was perfect for Cody, but the navy dresser did not go in Savannah's room, however, it was the perfect size. I love dressers that double as nightstands. 

Storage galore.

I painted right over the navy with Annie Sloan Paris Grey, and sealed it with clear wax.

It suits her room so much better!

I love this color, it almost has a slight blue tint to it which I love.

If you remember, I paid around $120 for this dresser at a thrift store.

Even with the paint, this is still a very inexpensive piece of solid wood furniture. 

Doesn't something as simple as paint make all the difference in the world?

Ok,moving on. This is a bit random but I have really been wanting to try this in one of these jars. Have you ever done this?

Have you seen the Opalhouse collection at Target?

I have been wanting to try some of their peel and stick wallpaper somewhere.

I also think they have some really stylish affordable furniture in this collection.

I have been using this skincare line for over a week now and am seeing incredible results. Fine lines are disappearing and my skin tone is brighter and feels tighter. It's a splurge but so much cheaper than botox!

I have coupled it with these skin antioxidant supplements to heal from the inside out.

And talk about a splurge, but seriously my friend has this dryer, I've used it and it really does cut the dry time in half.

I am loving everything galvanized these days. The look blends in with so many styles. The farmhouse, the cottage, or the traditional home.
