Friday favorites

Hello, and welcome to Friday favorites!

Take a wild guess how much these chairs are?
They look expensive, don't they?

My friend is using these barstools in her kitchen remodel and I was shocked where they were from. I would have guessed West Elm 100%. She has them in grey and they are so pretty.

These will be going in Savannah's Easter basket, duh!

These are so cute for Spring.

This portfolio is very impressive to me.
I fell hard for their modern farmhouse here.

I am thinking about getting these for our bedroom. They are super affordable and room darkening.

Must get these for our table in white.

Have a great weekend!

garden ready with GreenWorks

Hello there!

Yesterday I shared our Spring porch with you, and how to plant a flowers in a basket.
Being out in the garden getting my hands dirty gets me really excited for the warmer weather ahead.

If you know me well, you know I love to work in the yard, and I especially like to mow the lawn!
You might think I am joking, but it is the truth.

You know when you vacuum and you get the perfect triangle marks on your carpet, and how satisfying that is? The same thing goes for a perfectly cut lawn.

Not only do I love the smell of fresh cut grass, but I love getting a perfect cut and having all the straight lines, call me crazy.

This year I was treated to the most quiet and easy to use battery operated push mower called The Greenworks Pro.

It is so quiet that I can mow my lawn early in the morning {I like to get to it before the sun hits} and not wake my neighbors up.

We have a lot of grass at our house and keeping it trimmed is part of my weekly routine in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

This mower starts with the simple push of a button, and being battery powered, no gasoline involved.
Which makes it very easy for every member of the family to use, even though I hog this particular "job"

Greenworks is graciously hosting a giveaway where three lucky people will win $300.00 towards the Greenworks tools of their choosing!

Pleases also visit The Handmade Home, Thistlewood Farms, Lolly Jane, Remodelaholic, French Country Cottage, and Love and Renovations, all participants in this giveaway as well.

To enter the giveaway, simply head over to Greenworks Instagram page, follow them. Simply comment about which tool you would like to win, tagging friends for extra entries. It's that simple! {Look for the entry with the Lowes gift card image}

The giveaway ends Friday the 29th at 4 PM EST.

Good luck to everyone!

xoxo

basket planter and our spring porch

I love this time of year when the garden centers are full of flowers for planting.

I always get so excited knowing warmer weather is just around the corner.

I wanted to freshen up our little kitchen porch this year with something unexpected.

It is such a tiny area but I wanted to be able to plant something in a large container, something that would fill up the space nicely.

I found an old French basket and knew it was going to be perfect for that spot.

In keeping with the European theme, I went with flowers and colors that I thought would be appropriate.

This basket is very old and I wanted to protect it as much as possible from water damage, etc.

If you have a basket you'd like to use as a planter, follow these simple steps:

1- Line your basket with waterproofing. In this case, I used a large heavy duty garbage bag. I did not poke any drainage holes in it, because I don't want water soaking into the bottom of the basket.

2- Fill with soil and add a large center plant. I got a large boxwood plant and trimmed it as best as I could into a round shape.

Tip- If you don't want the weigh of all that soil, fill the bottom third with packing peanuts.

3- Fill in the gaps around the boxwood with your other plants.

I used Bacopa, Candytuft, and Creeping Myrtle.

4- Finally, add the rest of your soil and water generously.

If you are new here, the Hello Beautiful sign I made and attached with hinges to hide our PUD meter.
It has worked out perfectly to disguise it and the PUD guys have no problem with it!

Today I'm joined by a fabulous group of blogging friends who are also sharing their Spring Porches as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Series.

a spectacular barn home

We just spent a few days over in Lake Chelan Washington, and stumbled across the most beautiful barn.

This barn is not like any other barn.

Take a look:

I love how they used local wood fruit crates on this wall.

Lake Chelan has the most spectacular mountain views.

marshmallow Easter treats for the kids

This is hands down one of the easiest desserts that you can serve to the kids on Easter, or bring to a gathering.

As life seems to get busier and busier I am constantly trying to come up with ways to cut down on prep and baking time in the kitchen, but still have a presentable food to share with everyone.

I recently just shared an Easter cake hack which you can read about here. It was so easy and it is so darn cute if I do say so myself!

This idea came to me while standing in the check out line at TJ Maxx. You know how they always sell those enticing items near the registers for us impulsive shoppers? Well, the cute little pink bunny marshmallows won me over, and into my cart they went.

Don't worry if you don't have a TJ Maxx near you, these will probably work just the same.

I picked up a couple packages of peeps and regular large marshmallows. I used these candy sticks and topped each one with a cupcake topper to add an extra fun element.

There really isn't a particular method to this, just alternate your marshmallows ending with a cupcake topper.

Serve lined up on a white tray so the colors really pop.

Now tell me what kid would not love getting all gooey with one of these?

I hope you try them out and I hope they are well liked!

Friday favorites

This home tour is everything!

These modern bar stools are sold at a surprising shop.

Also a great price are these 2 lamps.

Live in a tight space? This would be a great bar cart or would be great in a kitchen for extra storage.

I just ordered this for Savannah's room makeover. The one I originally purchased was beautiful but a little too boho for the space. Hopefully this one will work! Sometimes it takes trying out a couple things to know which one will work best.

These popular dining chairs are on big time sale. I think they would be great around a table outdoors for the warmer months.

Have you ever shopped the home section at this discount store?

Almost as cheap as this shop, but nothing beats their prices.
Check out all the new arrivals here.

And finally, have you seen surfboards popping up as art in homes lately? I am kinda loving it!

I especially like this one.

Such a novelty, but I really feel like I need this in my life!

Happy Friday!

xoxo

DIY oversized Spring succulent wreath

Hello friends!

I have a fun and easy project for you today that is not only cute, but very inexpensive to make.

I challenged myself to make a fun wreath out of items all from the Dollar Tree.

I wanted a large wreath that didn't cost a fortune, and I was able to make this for under $15.00, and here is how you can as well.

I was inspired by clip on succulents that I found in the gardening section at the dollar store.
I bought about 12 of the ones that were the most realistic looking.

Can you guess what the base of this wreath is?

A hula hoop!

It is the perfect size and shape for this oversized wreath.

I used natural twine, and wrapped it around the hoop. It didn't take as long as I thought, and it doesn't have to be perfect. You just want to cover up the hula hoop itself.

Once I got all the way around, I simply tied the end and hot glued it down.

I used zip ties to attach the succulents from the clips on the backs, onto the hoop.

Then to fill in the gaps and cover up the zip ties, I hot glued on some moss.

 That's it!

Isn't it cute? Perfect for your Spring decor.

I don't know where you could buy a wreath this size for $15.00.

I hope this inspires you to make one of your own.
