progress on Savannah's room

A few more developments in the makeover of Savannah's room.

If you would like to see the last post on her room, you can go here.

Quick recap:

Our daughter Savannah is in her second year of college and while she comes home often, her bedroom will double as a guest room.

So we are adding a little more rustic, cozy, and modern features and furnishings.

I am covering the walls below the chair rail with this in grey. It is the same wood we used in our office and I just love it. I think it'll really cozy up the room and give it that modern mountain lodge look I am after.

I am still weighing options on what color to paint the upper walls.

I have always loved the looks of these acrylic frames, so I have one going in the space once it's all painted! I chose this print to go in it.

I am waiting to paint the walls before I hang the drapery. If you remember I got the roman shades from Barn And Willow for the windows behind her bed.

I didn't get them for her French Doors because it just wasn't in the budget. But I did have a happy accident and I found some drapes that match almost perfectly, from non other than Ikea.

When money allows I will spring for the ones from Barn And Willow because you just can't beat their materials and the attention to detail they put in their work.

Packages are starting to arrive. I just got the little table that I want to use at the foot of the bed. I want to find some really cool modern comfy chairs to put on either side.

That's it for now, I will hopefully be painting soon and have some actual photos to show you!

our flip has been staged

Ah, the power of staging. You will see why it is so important to stage a home for sale simply by looking at the photos below.

This is the master bedroom, walk in closet, and master bath. This bedroom was down to the studs when we, Thompson Design + Build, got our hands on it. But it had potential! A fireplace in the bedroom? Dreamy. I immediately envisioned a big comfy window seat next to it for relaxing and reading. I loved seeing my vision come to life.

Let's start with the before, which you can read all about here as well as see the products we used.

After construction:

And after staging:

Pretty great right? Soothing colors, lots of sumptuous pillows, etc. will show the potential buyer how much furniture can fit in the space, placement ideas, and the overall feel of the room.

This is a room I could feel right at home in!

The opposite side of the room is the master bathroom and closet.

Before:

We created three rooms within this space. A closet, the master bathroom, and toilet room.

The kitchen once looked like this: {for product sources we used click here}

 After we finished construction:

And all staged for sale:

And the guest/kids bathroom just down the hall started out looking like this:

After staging:

I am actually a little sad to be finished with this project, it has been so much fun. We worked over there many days, and seeing it all come together has been very rewarding.

I sourced out as many of the products I could if you are interested, just click on the links below.

Friday favorites & sale alerts

This week has been a week like no other. Snow, snow, and more snow.

So I have spent a lot of time getting my retail therapy online, since I can't drive anywhere.

This table is a great price point. I am thinking about getting it for my basement actually. Stay tuned for that!

Speaking of tables with a modern look, I think the price point on this is great as well and it has a really cool high end look. I am considering it for our living room.

This is a must have for your kitchen decor!

I am still obsessing over this home tour, an oldie but a goodie.

Pottery Barn is already thinking Spring!

I love these lamps and am considering them for Savannah's new room.

I also just ordered this lamp and am contemplating getting two. With the hefty price tag though, I am starting out with just one to see if it lives up to my expectations! I have been looking at it for literally a couple years now.

I will be using this under the chair rail in Savannahs room {in grey} This is the same product we used on the ceiling in our office.

This might be the best love story ever, besides my own of course, haha.

How about some weekend sales? Click on the store name to take you there!

And I will leave you with that!

I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day, and I will see you next Friday for more of my Friday favorites.

xoxo

the best healthy blueberry muffins

These are possibly the best "healthy" muffins I have ever made.

I hope you try these if you are doing the Whole 30, or are living a Paleo lifestyle. Even if you aren't, please try these, they are that good!

Most low carb, low sugar, no flour muffin recipes have always turned out flat to me. Flat in texture and flat in shape.

But these might be the best healthy blueberry muffins I have ever tried.

If you are looking for the ingredient Erythritol, I buy mine here. I have also used this and it tastes delicious too.

Be sure to pin this recipe so you can easily access it later.

Yield: 8

Healthy Blueberry Muffins {paleo/whole 30}

prep time: 10 minscook time: 25 minstotal time: 35 mins

ingredients:

instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F . Line a muffin pan with liners or spray generously with coconut oil.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the almond flour, erythritol, baking powder and salt.
  3. Mix in the melted coconut oil, almond milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Fold in the blueberries. Top with additional blueberries.
  4. Distribute the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden and an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

5 art solutions for large walls

I had a reader reach out asking for ideas for decorating and filling up large bare walls. I love being able to help readers come up with solutions, so let's tackle this subject shall we?

Sometimes filling up a big wall doesn't even have to be artwork related. You can fill up a portion of a large wall space with something tall and vertical such as a plant or a piece of furniture as Emily Henderson did here.

1- CLEVER FURNITURE & PLANT PLACEMENT

2- LARGE SCALE FURNITURE

Or choose a large piece of furniture to fill up a big blank space.

3- PICTURE LEDGES OR SHELVES

Consider picture ledges to prop all your artwork up. It makes it fun to swap things out often during holidays, etc. Photo source from here.

4- ADD PIECES WITH DIMENSION

Hang an architectural piece, or something with a lot of dimension. I love using JuJu hats for these applications. Photo source.

We have one hanging over our bed which you can see here.

5- CREATE A GALLERY WALL

Gallery walls are a great way to fill up a big wall and make an impact. You can go with all black and white photos in black frames for a simple look, or go for a more eclectic look with a mix of frames, colors, and materials.

In our living room I made a clean grid using frames just like these.

I actually have a gallery wall Pinterest board here if you'd like to take a peek.

Hopefully this helps if you are in the same dilemma on trying to fill up wall space.
I hope you are having a great day!

xoxo
